Dear colleague,  You will be aware from previous information sent to you that Rome, Italy has been selected as the location for the XX FIGO World Congress of Gynecology & Obstetrics. Planning for the event is now very well advanced and a first class scientific programme is being developed that will cover various topics of interest to the obstetric and gynaecologic community and our various sub-specialties.  We are also working hard to ensure that detailed plans are put in place to make your stay in Rome during the Congress most enjoyable, comfortable and affordable.  The Second Announcement for the Congress will be published very soon. In the meantime, the dedicated FIGO World Congress 2012 website is now available at http://www.figo2012.org , providing a wealth of easily accessible information on all activities and logistics concerning this high-profile triennial event.  I am very pleased to report that the request issued by the FIGO President in February seeking the cooperation of FIGO member societies and regional federations in ensuring that any national or regional meetings that might be being planned avoid a clash with the dates of the XX FIGO World Congress of Gynecology & Obstetrics – which are 7th to 12th October 2012 – was met with a highly positive response. I very much hope that, if you have not already done so, you will take the FIGO World Congress dates into consideration when planning your 2012 meetings to ensure that your members are able to enjoy the FIGO Congress's many and varied benefits.
